Yes, it’s terrible news for Americans. Planned parenthood will desappear, minimum wage will go down the drain, millions of people will end up with no healthcare at all, terrorism and anti-americanism should rise and so on. But what about for us, non-americans?

Unless you live in a country that could get potentially destroyed by this guy, it’s not a “bad deal”. “Foreign companies” will source their raw materials and industries elsewhere, since they will refuse paying shit load of taxes when selling their imported goods in the US, the US$ should fall quite a bit due to the general uncertainty of the market, buying US made products should be cheaper to buy and own (important if you like killing machines aka mustangs!), the massive amount of scandals that will come up over the years will keep us entertained and the general power that the US has over the world should be greatly reduced thanks to the general lack of respect, all heads of states have for an inept guy like him.

With a bit of luck, OPEC muslims countries will get pissed off at the general anti-muslim racism that will occur everywhere in the states and will greatly reduce the amount of oil they sell to the US, reducing the price of oil elsewhere in the world in order to keep on selling what they produce and get rid of their stock in spite of some sort of boycott.

Really guys... If you’re not americans and don’t see american soldiers patrolling around where you live, it’s really not a bad thing at all. If you’re american and live in the US. I’m really sorry :(

I’m still baffled by those results. I understand that choosing between two evils is bad, but actually hating Clinton so profoundly that you vote for Trump is something I cannot comprehend. People who actually like Trump and believe he’ll be a great president are a complete mystery to me.

Anyway, American national politics are none of my business as I’m not American. I can strongly disagree with opinions, but it’s not my problem. Regardless of who won, I’m glad I don’t live in the US, but I believe that’s a mutual feeling.

American foreign policy can impact me so I do think it’s something we can speak about. Clinton would’ve been more of the same. Predictable. Predictable is good. No one knows what Trump will do and that does worry me.

Yes, it’s terrible news for Americans. Planned Parenthood will disappear, minimum wage will go down the drain, millions of people will end up with no healthcare at all, terrorism and anti-Americanism should rise and so on. But what about for us, non-Americans?

It sets the kind of governance other nations will want. This does become a good idea for other countries, too.

This sets precedence to what will come next. If two more countries decide something like this is a good thing they can do, then we’ve just gotten to an immense low.

Hum, the USD is ONE of 5 world’s reserve currencies. This status most certainly means is won’t crash entirely, but it will make things a lot more affordable for sure. (The GBP is one of those 5 btw). Also, I live in Japan and well, the Yen is and has always been the go-to currecy when the USD goes wrong. This also could be an annoying thing overtime, but not bad for Japan now considering how it relies on important. So no, not everyone cares if the USD falls.

Also with the US cutting itself out of all the world’s markets (NAFTA being the most important one for them), I don’t really see how foreign investors will choose to invest there? Continuing to invest in the US market under these conditions makes no sense and makes attempting to reach other markets much more interesting. This won’t change much for big companies and conglomerates, which will keep on investing in the US just like before, but I don’t see how small and medium companies/investors, who only have the means to focus on one market at a time, would choose to keep on dealing with the US.

As far as oil independence goes, as someone who lived in Canada for over 8 years, it’s quite laughable. 40% of US imports come from Canada (remember, BAAAAD NAFTA?). Heck, americans even send oil to Canada just to get it refined and shipped back to the US... So in term of independance, there’s still quite a bit of work on that side I’m afraid and OPEC is a bit ahead of the game. With gas prices rising again everywhere in the world, I don’t see as a good news for the US in the foreseable future.

I’m very excited to have Obamacare repealed so insurers won’t have to offer me coverage thanks to my preexisting (and very expensive) condition, and will be able to cap my lifetime benefits. Paying $50k a year for medicine sounds super!

Maybe I can set up a sham marriage (or a real one!) to get me into a country that sucks less...

Sure, but he plans on repealing it within his first 100 days (or so he says). What will happen to the 11.5 millions people who are signed up to it? Where do they go?

The massive problem Obamacare had to deal with, was that it had to be sold to Americans. It was a failure due to the low amount of people who signed up for it, raising prices through the roof simply because not enough people are registered on it. This is why similar plans work well elsewhere but not in the US unfortunately. Hey, at least he tried.

Planned parenthood going down the drain? hardly, it has too many supporters, myself included (someone who supported trump)

Minimum wage going down the drain? again no. it may not increase, (which is a good thing in my opinion and an argument for another time and another place) but it’s not going anywhere. where’s the precedent it will be abolished?

If Obamacare goes away, woohoo! big diff. I know of almost nobody who didn’t have it (healthcare) before that has it now. then again I live in Oregon, one of the states where Obamacare was considered a huge failure.

Terrorism and anti Americanism on the rise? sources? only by BLM supporters and in that case good. them outing themselves as anti-American is doing everybody else here a favor. all they do is throw fits, block highways, and burn their own towns when they don’t get their way.

But the real deal is this. the president doesn’t have a whole lot of power, they are merely a figure head for congress. nothing will change. the media just has the people who buy into this kind of crap scared.

Yep, apparently needed a larger penalty to get people to sign up (and better messaging from Congress). Though private healthcare costs continue to skyrocket as well which for some reason doesn’t get mentioned (or gets erroneously blamed on Obamacare).

In any event, we’ll see how generous Republicans are to current enrollees. Maybe they’ll tell them to get fucked right away, or maybe they’ll let them go the whole remainder of the year.

Have you seen what is going on in Pence’s Indiana for PP? With a republican house and senate why would it not go down the drain?

And minimum wage won’t go up for sure, but with the taxes on imported goods promised by Trump, what do you think will happen to end products? Do you think people buy crappy stuff made in China instead of good quality stuff made in the US by choice?

And yeah, Obamacare was a failure, true. But 11+ million people depend on it today. Where will those people go? And with a friend who died from a cancer, living his wife and kids with 100000+$ of debts because his private insurance dropped him as he was getting “too expensive”... Meh.

Remember sept 11? Why would terrorism not rise once Trumps starts bombing the shit out of terrorists and their families ON PURPOSE? You do realize this is EXACTLY what creates extremism among muslims in the middle east right? Less than that created the global hate toward americans in early and mid-2000s with Bush. Why would it not happen all over again?

Because for the most part states are left on their own to decide the fate of PP. I know it’s not going anywhere here for sure, and if some ass-backwards bible thumping state gets rid of it there, they can deal with the consequences. no skin off my back. abortion is also still illegal some places under Obamas presidency. I don’t agree, strongly, but again, not my problem.

Increasing import taxes is bad for the short term, but it’s about time we stop thinking in the here and now. if there’s a chance it brings business back to the states (it shouldn’t be cheaper to outsource no matter how you look at it) I’m willing to give it a try.

As far as healthcare goes, I’m sorry to hear about your friend, truly. but so far all I’ve seen personally is massively increased premiums for people who have been playing by the rules for years. Bullshit if you ask me.

Finally, I’ve seen nothing indicating Trump is going to increase America’s offensive tendencies. all that I’ve personally seen from him RE: the middle east is to stop immigration, which I agree with. I don’t think we could possibly create more issues over there, as they all already hate us and mostly rightfully so. I agree with you mostly on this point, but I don’t think it’s going to get any worse than it is now.

Well, the general suspicion toward muslims within the country, forbidding them to have their families visiting and basically putting Muslims as secondary citizens IS what creates domestic terrorism. Also he clearly explain what his plans were when it comes to fighting ISIS. Killing families of terrorist to get them to stop is nothing more than utterly stupid. And he was elected on stuff like that.

And again, increasin import taxes is not necessarily bad for the short term unless you increase minimum wages. But as I said, people who live on it, don’t buy “made in USA” stuff. And that will mean a massive raise in general spending for those families which represent roughly 50+ millions americans... They WILL be poorer with something like that. Not in $$$ per se but in spending power.

And yes Obamacare was a failure. It wouldn’t have been if people were not fighting it like crazy though... The low amount of subscribers made prices raise dramatically, killing the entire operation. If people had simply subscribed and gave it a try, it would have worked just like verywhere else in the world... Unfortunately, didn’t work out and it’s a failure indeed.

As far as abortion goes, with a new supreme court justice that will be nominated, most certainly by Mike Pence as Trump certainly has no idea who to nominate, and that will be specifically asked to repeal Roe vs Wade, all those states who WANT to ban PP will be abel to do so under false justifications (“It’s not safe for the woman to do it that way, in here...etc”). Maybe your state is not concerned and good on you, but shit, that’s a lot of poor people who will have to (badly) raise kids they never wanted in the first place.

I’m not sure that’s all he was elected on. while I’m not denying that he has racist supporters for that particular reason, that’s not the general consensus, at least around here. usually the reasons I’ve heard are: because “he’s not already big government”, that “the big banks have heavily supported hillary”, and that “with him he’s a dick, but at least you know where he stands”

Those are at least the most popular I’ve heard. From both white and Latino family’s. (fun fact, I only know of two Latino family’s *not* in favor of trump)

My issue with the China imports, is some of the things you get (myself included, it’s hard to avoid) probably were made by somebody under the age of 12. It always makes me wonder when I see a made in China sticker, and it’s pretty depressing to think about the slave/child labor that goes on there. I get that it will probably never happen, but in an ideal world, it would be nice to know the things you got were made responsibly.

As far as Roe v Wade, I would be disappointed if it was repealed, but I also don’t really think it will happen. It just seems like being against those types of things is being phased out.

And I also get that there are things about Trump that are totally shitty. Made in China you say? but I also don’t think he’s the boogeyman as many are making him out to be.

We all need to bookmark this, come back in 4 years when the GOP might lose it all for good, and see what really happened. I’ll wager very little becomes reality, especially the idiotic OPEC “luck” prediction that appears to come from a source with no actual economic credentials. The long game might make this worth it, as when the GOP blows it, they are finished.

And the US still has an unbreakable and permanent occupation in Europe (and Japan where some Europeans escape with mysterious funds), and an impact on nearly every economy. People love to bet against the US, but the more they do it, the more it doesn’t matter. More will remain the same than change. I can say this and I didn’t vote for the guy.

Lol, the only source to blame is myself... I just don’t see Muslim theocracies supporting and selling anything to a country that openly discriminates Muslims, even if that cost them.

But yes, if those 4 years are as catastrophic for the US as I think they could be, the GOP is going to be gone for good. And with the house and the Senate in their pocket, they have no excuse for failing. Honestly interesting experiment. I’m just happy to be far from it :)

I think money can make people ignore many sins. It’s not like hostility towards Muslims is a new thing. Besides, the Russians (new ally in Stalputin) could fill the void.

It’s going to be an interesting time. Maybe not all fun, but probably not a real catastrophe. Maybe even for the better if the GOP fails to produce , and changing demographics write off the old guard for good. Time for the populists to put up or shut up.

If the USA sneezes, many others catch the flu. Be careful what you wish for.

Haha, you’re more optimistic than I am, but indeed, maybe it won’t be THAT bad. And to be honest, I think that as long as the GOP hasn’t actually damaged the middle class for good, nothing will change. And lots of people will suffer from that... But hey, it’s not just an American thing. More of a human being problem... We only understand what we’ve done once we’ve had our nose put in that shitwe created. A bit like labradors lol.

Anyway, I can only hope that this is what it took to get the freaking GOP out of the picture. Hope you’re right :)

I think what was once the middle class might never come back. Middle class will now require some education. That’s the system that needs reform most of all in the US. Trumpeter has made some promises re: jobs that he probably won’t be able to keep. This could doom the party by 2020, or 2024 at the latest, when the masses learn they’ve been sold a bill of goods.

The Simpsons predicted a president Trump, to be replaced by a blond woman (Lisa). Maybe it will happen.

The American experiment has still turned out better than virtually all others. I have some faith in the resilience of the nation as a whole, even with baskets of deplorables everywhere. History has a liberal bias, and demographics are changing. There will be some stupid in the near term, but it will work out.
